Watts & Learn Webinar with Pennsylvania Solar Center

A Brighter Future: Solar for Pennsylvania Schools

Join Shannon Crooker, Pennsylvania Director, and Sharon Pillar, Founder of the Pennsylvania Solar Center, for a virtual event on Friday, August 19 at 12:00pm ET to explore the trends driving solar adoption in Pennsylvania schools. This webinar is part of the Watts & Learn event series hosted by the Pennsylvania Solar Center.

We’ll discuss how Pennsylvania schools can reduce energy bills, enhance STEM education, support local workforce development, and contribute to building healthier communities. Mick Iskric, Superintendent of Steelton-Highspire School District, will share their district’s solar story, which includes a 1.6 megawatt (MW) solar array over an abandoned landfill that provides 100% of their district’s electricity. Rick Musselman, former Superintendent of Midd-West School District and current Education Market Specialist from Greenworks Development, will discuss how Midd-West School District installed the largest school solar system (2.54 MW) in Pennsylvania and their plans to expand the project to start generating revenue for the district. Eitan Anouchi, President of AYA Instruments, will talk about educational programs and projects that teach students about energy, weather and the environment.

The Pennsylvania Solar Center and Generation 180 will also announce its new partnership G.E.T. Solar for Schools, a program that offers Pennsylvania K-12 schools with free technical assistance for going solar with no upfront costs. This collaboration will enable more schools to begin saving money on their energy bills and access solar technology that can be used for career and technical education (CTE) and STEM learning.
