Solar Tour at Greater Johnstown Career & Technology Center
Join us for an event at Greater Johnstown Career & Technology Center (GJCTC), the first school in Western Pennsylvania to offset 100% of its electricity consumption with solar power, to discuss opportunities for statewide schools to access the benefits of solar energy
Shannon Crooker, Pennsylvania Director at Generation180, will discuss the positive momentum of solar adoption by schools across the Commonwealth.
State Representative Elizabeth Fiedler will discuss the Solar for Schools Act (HB 1032), a bill she sponsored that would create a state-managed grant program to make solar more accessible and affordable for K-12 schools and community colleges.
John Augustine, Administrative Director of GJCTC, will discuss how solar energy helped this regional hub for workforce development reduce energy costs, manage its budget, and shift towards energy independence. He will share the opportunities solar energy has provided the school, community, and students.
Joe Richards, Principal Project Manager at The Efficiency Network (TEN), will share details about the project and how the school was able to finance the project with no upfront capital costs. He will also highlight federal funding opportunities that make solar more accessible to schools.
