Generation180 is a national non-profit organization based in Charlottesville, VA, working to accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy. We inspire and equip individuals to take action on clean energy in their homes and communities. 2023-24 Internship Position

Generation180 interns gain valuable real-world experience and contribute to our understanding of the country’s rapid transition to clean energy. Generation180 is seeking to hire one intern for the 2023-24 school year (Sept 2023 – May 2024): The intern will primarily apply their research and storytelling skills to complete key projects for Generation 180’s Electrify Your Life campaign. By the end of the Electrify Your Life internship, the intern will be well versed in the benefits of electric vehicles (EVs) and understand the broader concepts around an individual’s ability to decarbonize their lives, to include expertise in the Federal Government’s new Inflation Reduction Act. The intern may also help with other Generation180 projects– working across program areas including assisting with Solar for All Schools, Communications, Engagement, and Operations.

Job Duties

  • Assist team with all aspects of event production, both virtual and in person
  • Conduct research, analysis, and data collection to support program fundraising, planning and implementation
  • Support organizational awareness of federal and state policies related to Gen180 programs
  • Research, write, and produce content for communications initiatives including blogs, newsletters, emails, and social media posts
  • Support strategic planning and volunteer engagement
  • Work cross functionally to support other Generation 180 programs
  • Support office logistics and administrative tasks as needed

  • Proven ability to take initiative, think critically, and problem solve
  • Strong attention to detail and drive to ensure high data quality and accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to collaborate with a team to get the job done
  • Passion for Generation 180’s mission
  • Excellent research, communication, and writing skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant experience and coursework in any of the following fields: sustainability, environmental science, communications, education, or a related field
  • Prior professional or volunteer experience related to transportation, environment, energy, or solar advocacy campaigns

Schedule & Compensation

This internship is a part-time position, 12-20 hours per week. We will work with the top candidate to set a start date and schedule. This is a paid internship compensated at the rate of $15 per hour.

Interns will work in the Generation 180 office in downtown Charlottesville, VA. The schedule is flexible within regular office hours and some work can be completed remotely as needed.
