National Solar Tour 2020

The National Solar Tour celebrates the vital role schools play in creating a brighter future for everyone. Whether you’re a school with an onsite solar installation or simply curious about learning more, we invite you to join us for this year’s National Solar Tour—the largest grassroots renewable energy event in the nation.

There are two ways you can participate—as a host or as an attendee.

Host a virtual solar open house

We invite all solar schools to sign up now and host a virtual solar open house on the interactive National Solar Tour website. By participating in the tour this fall, your school can showcase its clean energy leadership and help educate and inspire others to flip the switch to solar.

The link below will walk you through the steps for hosting—including sending us a video or photo tour and sharing some details about your school’s solar project and other green building features.

Register now for a chance to win a classroom solar kit. All schools that register as a host of a solar open house will be entered to win a solar educational kit ($375 value) that includes standards-based lesson plans and interactive classroom materials for 30 students. One elementary school, middle school, and high school winner will be selected.

Attend virtual solar events

The National Solar Tour’s virtual solar experience (Sept. 28–Oct. 4) is open to the public and free to attend! Join us on Thursday, October 1st for a special Solar for Schools day.

In addition to checking out virtual open houses anywhere in the country, you can join us for live virtual events all week. During these events, attendees will have a chance to connect with solar owners, ask questions, and learn about the benefits solar is bringing to schools, homes, and businesses around the nation. Sign up below to receive updates on the schedule of events.

Did you know that October is National Energy Awareness Month? Participating schools will receive solar energy resources, lesson plans, and more from Generation180 throughout the month of October.
