Decarbonizing Public Schools in Maryland: Virtual Support Session

 

Monday, March 4th at 12:00PM EST

Generation180 and Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) are hosting a free virtual support session via Zoom for Maryland school districts that are interested in applying for funding from the Decarbonizing Public Schools Program, which is providing approximately $24.8 million in funding to Maryland K-12 public schools to develop and expand their capacity to address challenges and opportunities for reducing operational costs through energy data management, net zero energy design, solar installations, and energy efficiency upgrades. Learn more about this funding opportunity before the application deadline on Friday, March 15, 2024.

This event is an interactive discussion and Q&A session to address your questions or concerns with school decarbonization and applying for funding. The support session is closed to only staff and representatives of Maryland public school districts. There will be no vendors or service providers allowed to participate.

Speakers:

Ryan Kmetz, Program Manager at MEA will provide an overview of the Decarbonizing Public Schools Program and answer your questions about applying for this round of funding.

Jamee Alston, Management Analyst at Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS),  will share insights into PGCPS Master Plan and decarbonization strategies that are being implemented.

Decarbonizing Public Schools Program aims to prepare LEAs, also known as school districts, to expand their capacity to manage energy data and to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions while designing for future high-performance schools. The program will provide approximately $24.8 million in funding from the Strategic Energy Investment Fund and Alternative Compliance Program to help LEAs develop and expand their capacity to address ongoing challenges and opportunities for controlling costs through energy data management, net zero energy design considerations for public school portfolio planning​, solar installations and energy efficiency upgrades.
