10,000 EV Rides: Real Stories, Real Impact

10,000 EV Rides: Real Stories, Real Impact

Last month, Generation180 and our partner, the Electric Vehicle Association, launched the 10,000 EV Rides Campaign, with the goal of giving more people firsthand experiences in electric vehicles. Research shows that just one ride in an EV makes someone up to three times more likely to consider an EV for their next car! Generation180 is working to inspire EV drivers to give rides to their friends and family and for EV curious individuals to get rides from these EV owners!

As individuals share their experiences with us, we’re excited to share them with you—showcasing the real impact being made. Ready to get inspired? Read more about some recent EV rides below:

Len

Len is an electric vehicle owner in Arizona. He is passionate about the benefits of electric vehicles and loves to share his story about owning an EV in a rural area. Len has helped promote EVs by volunteering as a driver for authors at the Tucson Festival of Books, using his 2022 KIA EV6 GT-Line. As part of this experience, Len said, “Author Jason deLeon seemed curious and asked many questions, being from a Jeep family. He is a family man with many family tasks/adventures. We talked about larger sized EV options these days. We exchanged information and he thanked me with a signed copy of the book he was signing at the Festival, “Soldiers and Kings.”

“We want to make a change for the planet. We want to use these things that are available for us and they’re very easy to use. You shouldn’t be frightened. EVs just make a lot of sense”

Gabriel

Gabriel is not an EV owner but was excited to check one out! Based in Boston, he shares his experience when getting a ride: “The ride was great. Driving in Boston with all of the congested traffic and hills, I could tell the regenerative braking was benefiting. The driver of the car said it was sometimes a challenge to find chargers in the city, especially as the driver lived in an apartment with no garage. He talked about the Mayor of Boston making an effort to develop chargers in convenient areas all around the city as part of the city’s clean energy goals.”

Nessa

Nessa is an enthusiastic EV owner and part of our Gen180 family. This month, she took her sister and niece for a ride in her car when they were visiting town. The two loved the vehicle and enjoyed their ride. They especially appreciated the heated seats in the back row!

My niece is days away from her 16th birthday. I hope she is part of a generation that drives electric from day one.”

Dave

Dave, an EV owner from New York, had the incredible opportunity to give a ride to a local community leader. He said, “[I] took the Sr. VP of Community Advancement of the local Chamber of Commerce on a ride in my F150 Lightning after a ribbon cutting celebrating new EV chargers. He was impressed!”

Kristen

Kristen, an owner of a Kia Niro hybrid, has always been interested in a fully electric car but has had hesitations about buying one. In order to get the full EV experience, she decided to rent one for the weekend to test it out! She learned about charging methods, range, regenerative braking, and the fun of driving electric.

“After this weekend, I can confidently say—my next car will be fully electric. And the best part? I don’t have to change a single thing about my lifestyle to make it work.”

Kristen

These individuals are making a difference with every ride, helping to demystify EV ownership, and maybe even create some new EV ambassadors.

To add additional incentive to the 10,000 EV Rides Campaign, Generation180 is offering a monthly giveaway where every participant is entered into a drawing for a prize! These prizes include, but are not limited to, Gen180 t-shirts, gift cards, and electric vehicle accessories. More rides = more chances to win. We are excited to announce our first prize winner, Julia! When describing her ride, Julia said, “This isn’t really a test drive, it’s like taking a taxi. It’s so smooth, it’s like a spaceship.”

As the campaign progresses we will share more personal stories about electric vehicle experiences – your story might be included in the next update! The 10k EV rides campaign will continue throughout 2025, meaning there is lots of time to get involved.
