Esteban Gast is a comedian and educator based in Los Angeles. After teaching creativity at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Esteban became President of the Kalu Yala institute in Panama, an off-the-grid sustainable institute and study abroad program. His time in Panama was captured in the VICELAND tv show “Jungletown” and since then Esteban has worked in storytelling, comedy, and activism. He tours as a standup comedian, was co-creator and co-host of the Spotify Original podcast “Identity at Play,” has hosted funny educational series for SoulPancake and, most importantly for this bio, has worked alongside Generation180 in their climate, creativity, and community building programs. For his work, Esteban was selected as a Grist50 Fixer in 2023 and chosen as on the “Top 100 Latinos” taking action on climate change in 2024. He enjoys making music, taking his dog Imli for walks, and reading about history.
