As the first ever Director of Sustainability for Loudoun County Public Schools, Clark leads design and implementation of sustainability master planning for the district. LCPS is the third largest public K-12 school district in Virginia, caring for 82,000+ students and more than 100 facilities. The district currently employs both solar and geothermal renewable energy strategies as part of their energy management portfolio and has been benchmarking energy and water use since 1993. A full-scale GHG inventory in 2024 will inform the development of bold new clean energy goals and strategies for the next 25 years.
Clark firmly believes that school campuses are learning laboratories, and that school districts are uniquely positioned to model what they teach. Connecting student learning, voice and action to our built environments, our operational practices and our districts’ sustainability values is critical for long-term success. You’ll find Clark learning in local woods and waterways with LCPS students, designing and evaluating innovative pilot studies or nurturing partnerships with LCPS educators, administrators and community organizations.
