Karly attended the University of Florida where she pursued a Bachelor of Science in Sustainability and the Built Environment with a minor in Innovation. She later pursued a Master’s of Engineering from University of Wisconsin – Madison . After graduating with honors from the University of Florida, she joined the United States Peace Corps where she served in Uganda as a Community Agribusiness Specialist. During her time in the Peace Corps, she worked with several non-profits including educational systems to help them improve the livelihood of their community.
Shortly after returning from the Peace Corps, Karly accepted an opportunity with Legacy Vacation Resorts. As the first Sustainability professional in the company, she led their efforts in becoming the first multi-state hospitality company in the United States to achieve B-Corp certification.
Karly began working at Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) where she managed the Sustainability Office. Karly is currently working for Miami Dade County Public Schools, the 3rd largest school district in United States where she is leading the Sustainability initiatives as their first Sustainability Officer.
