Mark Stein serves as the Chief Facilities and Operations Officer at the Bethlehem Area School District where he and his team operate 22 schools as efficiently as possible, including the use of solar arrays at five schools totalling 1.6MW which supports 10% of district’s consumption, including two elementary schools that are entirely solar powered. Additionally, since the cleanest energy is that which is never produced, a sustained focus on efficiency and conservation efforts over the last decade has resulted in a 20% drop in consumption and a $20 million cost avoidance.
