Megan Garner leads the School District of Philadelphia’s Sustainability plan, GreenFutures, which focuses on Education for Sustainability, Consumption and Waste, Energy and Efficiencies, School Greenscapes, and Healthy Schools/Healthy Living. Her role involves overseeing the District’s Drinking Water Quality program in 300+ buildings and ensuring compliance with the Building Energy Performance Program to promote sustainability and energy efficiency.
She also plays a supporting role in the transition away from diesel buses to electric vehicles and alternative fuel buses, enhancing the overall sustainability of the District’s transportation fleet.
Megan is an interdepartmental liaison, facilitating internal coordination with local, regional, and national partners. She drives initiatives such as an Environmental Literacy and Sustainability professional development series, the District’s participation in a city-wide litter index, and grant management – all contributing to a greener and healthier educational environment.
