2024: Telling Clean Energy Stories, Mobilizing Clean Energy Action

2024: Telling Clean Energy Stories, Mobilizing Clean Energy Action

In 2024, Gen180 went hyper-local to tell clean energy stories from those leading the charge.

That includes local communities – and people like you – who are advocating for clean energy,  swapping out gas for electric, switching to an EV, electrifying your schools and bus fleets, and more.

Gen180 inspires and equips individuals to take action on clean energy. We are telling success stories so people can see themselves in the clean energy transition and creating ambassador communities where people can learn, connect, and engage. We are growing a clean energy constituency, building power through new organizing infrastructures, and helping Americans understand how clean energy is relevant to their lives–and the important role they can play.

Inspiring Clean Energy Action in the South

Clean energy is for everyone, and most importantly, the benefits are for everyone. We partnered with the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy and the Southeast Sustainability Directors Network to amplify clean energy wins in the Southeast as part of our new campaign, Energy For All Y’all. Check out our new site to get inspired, y’all!

Building Solar Momentum: Spotlight on Pennsylvania Schools

Generation180 is helping schools go solar in a state that is the second largest producer of natural gas. Our statewide outreach and advocacy helped the Solar for Schools Act pass with bipartisan support. We are providing free technical assistance to K-12 schools to help them access $24 million in state grants and federal tax credits for new solar projects. We’re actively scaling this successful model to more states across the country.

I’ll Drive What She’s Driving

Did you know that women account for purchasing 62% of all new cars, but are less likely to drive electric? We launched “I’ll Drive What She’s Driving” to encourage women to make the switch and partnered with influencers — musicians, social media influencers, and EV owners – to help promote the benefits of EVs and share stories of women going electric.

Launched Climate Cultura to Equip Latin American Creatives

Latino communities are a key constituency that want climate action, and Latin American creatives are uniquely positioned to get people’s attention and share inspiring stories of hope. Generation180 partnered with eight Latino creatives to pilot our Climate Cultura program and create fresh video content about clean energy and engage locally. In 2025, we will scale this campaign to new cities across the country.

A Brighter Future: 1 in 9 Students Attends a Solar-powered School

One in nine K-12 students now attends a school powered by solar energy. Schools nationwide are adopting solar for its economic, educational, and community benefits, with federal incentives making it more affordable. Gen180’s fifth Brighter Future Report showcases progress through case studies of leading districts and state-by-state rankings, highlighting the push toward 100% clean energy in schools.

Thank You Wonderful Partners
