We’re excited to announce that we recently received four awards, two Anthem Awards, and two AVA Digital Awards, for storytelling excellence. We use storytelling – through media engagement, creative digital content, and comedy – as a key strategy for accelerating the shift to clean energy as we seek to popularize a new climate narrative of agency and hope.
The Anthem Awards were developed by The Webby’s to recognize the best purpose-and mission-driven work worldwide. This year’s Anthem Awards were selected among a pool of 2,000 submissions from 44 countries.
Gen180’s Brighter Future Report won a Silver Anthem award for best PR or Earned Media Campaign. This report examines the advancement of solar energy adoption within U.S. K-12 schools, revealing the amount of solar installed at schools has tripled since 2015. The report garnered significant media coverage, including a New York Times exclusive and mention by former President Bill Clinton in the Associated Press.
The Climate Comedy Cohort, co-created and directed by Generation180 and the Center for Media & Social Impact’s GoodLaugh initiative, won a Gold Anthem award for Special Projects. The Climate Comedy Cohort is an initiative working to build a diverse network of comedians from across the nation with the aim of reshaping discourse surrounding climate change. Research indicates that the majority of Americans are concerned about climate change, but many remain unaware of actionable steps they can take. In response, the cohort leverages the power of humor to teach people how to make a difference, and inspire climate action.
On January 30th, Generation180 staff had the pleasure of accepting two awards at the Anthem Awards Winner’s Reception in New York City.

Generation180 also received two honors from the 2024 AVA Digital Awards, an international competition that recognized digital communication excellence by creative professionals in over 200 categories. Our new website was awarded a gold AVA digital award. With the help of Visceral, a creative agency specializing in brand, digital design, and development, our website now features visually-rich design and compelling stories, toolkits, reports, and other content empowering people to take clean energy action.
Additionally, “Induction Stoves,” a video created by 2023 Climate Comedy Cohort fellow, comedian, and writer Pratima Mani, won a platinum AVA digital award in the digital advertising and video production categories. Notably, the video also won “Most Popular Video” at the Behavior, Energy, and Climate Change (BECC) 2023 conference’s Climate Comedy Festival.
Generation180 is proud to receive recognition for its impactful contributions to the clean energy and climate action movement through media initiatives.
